The “dark night (of the soul)” in Roman Catholic spirituality describes a spiritual crisis. Aka a spiritual depression or Existential Crisis due to sudden trauma's such as divorce, loss of a loved one, or deep sadness.
These are the stages of the transformation to becoming whole again.
